ABOUT
hcs|Architecture & Interiors brings together architectural design and chartered surveying under one roof — a collaborative division combining design thinking with technical and commercial insight from the outset.
Our work is shaped through close collaboration, with senior architectural involvement guiding each project from concept through to completion. This sits alongside the rigour, infrastructure and experience of an established practice, allowing ideas to be developed with both creativity and precision.
We work across residential, commercial and interior projects, from straightforward schemes to more complex and sensitive briefs. Each project is approached on its own terms, drawing on a broader network of architectural and technical expertise to ensure a thoughtful and well-resolved outcome.
We are not defined by a particular scale or house style. Instead, we focus on creating well-considered, carefully delivered work — bringing the same level of care, attention and design integrity to everything we do.
BACKGROUND/ORIGINS
HCS Architects was formed through a partnership between Christian Howe’s established chartered surveying practice and Tom Soper, a senior architect with over 20 years’ experience leading complex heritage and high-end residential projects across Central London and the South East.
By bringing design and surveying expertise together from the outset, we offer clients the benefit of senior architectural input supported by the rigour and resources of a full professional practice.
This integrated approach allows us to anticipate and mitigate the potential challenges of design and construction early, helping projects run more smoothly.
Our aim is simple: to combine foresight, technical knowledge and experience to ensure each project is both successful and an enjoyable process for everyone involved.
TOM SOPER
Tom leads the architectural side of the practice, bringing over 20 years’ post-qualification experience to every project.
After 16 years running his own RIBA Chartered Practice, he made a deliberate move into senior design consultancy.
His experience includes super-prime residential, heritage and listed building work, as well as complex multi-stakeholder projects across Central London and the South East, with projects also completed in Scotland, Ireland, France and Switzerland.
Tom is ARB registered and studied at The Bartlett (UCL) and the University of Westminster.
